This July has proven to be a HOT and DRY month and we want to say THANK YOU to our members. During the past few weeks, we have had to issue many PEAK ALERTS and you responded by conserving your usage. Your efforts made a huge difference. Hopefully the weather is cooling some and bringing some much-needed rain to the areas. As always, we appreciate our cooperative family.

Weather forecasts are calling for triple-digit temperatures today. We’re issuing a PEAK ALERT and encouraging HOEC members to reduce their electricity usage from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. The extreme heat and longer run time on HVAC units could set a peak that affects power costs in the future.

Weather forecasts are calling for extreme heat to continue throughout this week. We’re issuing a PEAK ALERT and encouraging HOEC members to reduce their electricity usage from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on July 6 through July 8. The extreme temperatures and longer run time on HVAC units could set a peak that affects power costs in the future.

Some members are receiving calls saying that power will be disconnected immediately. THIS IS A SCAM. Simply hang up and if you have questions feel free to call us!

Thank you to our members for conserving your usage over the past couple of days. Because of your efforts we were able to maintain your reliable flow of power. We’re in the clear right now, but as we head into another potential PEAK this coming Monday & Tuesday we may once again ask you, our members, to conserve. We’re in close contact with Associated Electric Cooperative and Sho-Me Power, and we will keep you updated with the latest information available. As always, we appreciate our cooperative family as we work hard to keep the power flowing.

Due to unseasonably high temperatures, members of  Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative have been asked to safely conserve electricity as the three-tiered system of electric cooperatives continues to do everything possible to meet members’ energy needs.

UPDATE: Sho-Me crews at the substation discovered a snake in the equipment caused the outage.

Update 10:00 am - This tree was the culprit that caused the outage this morning.   The tree split in half and dropped onto the line.  Crews have now restored power to all members.
