Recently, Dan Singletary was inducted into the Cooperative Hall of Fame, an award from The Missouri Institute of Cooperatives (MIC). As a member-focused organization, MIC is driven by the mission to empower cooperatives and strengthen their impact. They strive to create a collaborative environment where ideas are shared, knowledge is exchanged, and best practices are developed. By advocating for the cooperative principles and values, MIC aims to build an equitable economy for the benefit of all members.

A lifelong champion of cooperative principles, Singletary guided Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative (HOEC) as a manager and CEO with a vision to ensure local needs drove statewide and national decisions. He represented Missouri's cooperatives before rating agencies in New York to secure stronger financial positions for Associated Electric and its members, of which HOEC is one.

Known for practical innovation, he advanced distribution practices that strengthened collaboration across G&T systems. His commitment to safety led to a pioneering workers' compensation group focused on prevention as much as claims. He made energy reliability a priority and drove storm restoration with swift efficiency. Known for financial stewardship and dedication to the model, Dan elevated cooperative service into a model of trust and resilience in the communities he served and beyond.

"I am honored to accept this award," stated Singletary. "As CEO/General Manager at HOEC for the past 31 years, my vision has been to ensure our cooperative is strong and everyone is safe and can go home to their families at night. That is something that is truly important to me and I am proud to work with this great group of people to make that happen," he added.

The Missouri Institute of Cooperatives is dedicated to fostering a thriving cooperative community in Missouri. They are committed to providing support and resources to members, helping them navigate challenges and seize opportunities. The team is passionate about promoting the cooperative business model and its positive impact on communities. Through collective efforts, they aim to enhance the resilience and sustainability of cooperatives across various sectors.
