Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative (HOEC), West Plains, was one of 35 Missouri electric cooperatives recognized for working safely. Employees of the cooperative have now worked a total of 332,395.50 hours without a lost time accident.
"We are proud of the steps these cooperatives have taken to ensure each and every employee goes home to their families safe at the end of every day," says Johnie Hendrix, vice president of risk management and training for the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives (AMEC). "We offer a tremendous amount of training that always stresses safety. But in the end, it is the employees themselves who have created a culture of safety at these cooperatives."
"Safety is top priority, and always has been for HOEC," said CEO/General Manager Dan Singletary. "We hold on-site monthly meetings with employees and talk about safety during each project. We have crews attend trainings and certifications at AMEC and are always looking for ways to continue to improve our safety record," Singletary added. "I’m proud of everyone here."
The recognition came earlier this month at the 2025 annual meeting of AMEC, which is the Jefferson City-based statewide service organization for Missouri's electric cooperatives.
