Howell-Oregon Electric's Safety Programs Begins in Area Schools
    Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative has 18 public schools and numerous private schools in its service area.  Of these 18 public schools 11 are K-12 grades with the remaining 7 being K-8 grades.

    Howell-Oregon Electric works with our Generation and Transmission Cooperative, Sho-Me Power, in providing these programs.

    Cindy Evans of Sho-Me Power, pictured to the right, works with the Family and Consumer Services of the area schools in presenting programs such as, Home Safety, Kitchen Safety, Child Safety, Family Living energy conservation, and Energy Management. cindy

    Sho-Me Power's Eddie Goins, below,  works with Junior High School and High School age children in Vocational Agricultural classes and Science classes.EddieGoins

    Sho-Me Powemertr's Mert Bancroft, below, does the elementary school programs for the 3rd through 6th grade classes.  His programs consist of electrical safety and how electricity works.  Howell-Oregon provides books for each of  the elementary classes.  The 3rd grade book is Buddy Bear Explores Electricity, 4th grade The ABC's of Electricity, 5th grade You and Your Electrical Cooperative, and the 6th grade book About Electricity.

    In the 2004-2005 school year over 5000 students were involved in these classroom presentations.
