Reporting an Outage....

There will be times when your lights go out.  If an outage occurs please keep the following information in mind.

  1. First and foremost, remember always stay clear of downed power lines and never attempt to touch or pickup a power line.
  2. Check with your neighbors to see if their electricity is also off.  If they are without power you should call our office immediately.
  3. If your neighbors do have power and you don't, check your own fuses and breakers.  You may have a problem within your own residence our business, etc.  Many services also have breakers below the meter so please be sure to check these breakers too.  If you do not find a problem within your structure, call us for assistance.  Howell-Oregon Electric does maintain the power up to your meter at no cost, however, if HOEC responds to an outage call and the problem is on the members side of the service, the member may be charged for a service call.
  4. When the power goes off you may see or hear something that could be helpful to our linemen to get the power restored.  It may be a wire down, broken pole, tree in a line, vehicle accident, flash, loud noise, etc.  We do appreciate you relaying this information to us as quickly as possible.
  5. Always call and report an outage never assume that your neighbors have already called. We have dispatchers on duty 24 hours a day.  If you have a problem you can call at the following numbers:

  6. In the event of a severe outage you may get our automated voice mail, rest assured employees are on duty, however due to the large volume of calls we can not answer them all, but we do listen to all voice mails.
  7. Please give your name, address, telephone, location number and/or account number if possible when you leave a message.
