MERCURY VAPOR LIGHTS TO BE DISCONTINUED

          According to the Federal Energy Act of 2005, as of January 1, 2008 no more mercury vapor lights ballasts can be manufactured or imported. As of January 1, 2008 Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative can only sell the mercury vapor lights and replacement ballasts that are currently in stock.

        Due to this legislation, if a member's mercury vapor light does go out after January 1, 2008, and the cooperative has not further lights or ballasts in their normal stock, and if the member chooses to replace the light, the member's only option, at the current time, is a high pressure sodium light. As of January 1, 2007 through January 1, 2008, all mercury vapor lights sold will no longer have a one-year warranty. All mercury vapor light warranties will end January 1, 2008.
